My Body Underneath explores the internal battle young women feel while presenting a calm exterior. The piece questions the unrealistic ideals of ‘Perfect Young Ladies’.
It encourages young women to liberate themselves from critical opinions and share their body with the world on their own terms.
how we made the work
This piece was created in 2020 when exercise activities were permitted outside, socially distanced and with limited numbers. Filming took place in various carpark settings around Brighton and provided our dancers with a focus to create an output during a very challenging time.
