Every Touch Leaves A Trace
Human contact is integral to our wellbeing. To touch and being able to touch others is part of our development and offers emotional soothing. It's how we express many of our feelings towards others.
The Covid-19 pandemic highlighted how crucial human contact is to our social interactions.
Not being able to experience touch left us feeling isolated and detached. This had significant impacts on our relationships and wellbeing.
Every Touch Leaves a Trace encapsulates the lasting impact that touch can have on us.
But not all touch is welcomed or consented to. We can be fundamentally shaped by the positive effects of touch but it can also cause deep traumatic scars.

how we made the work
We wanted to create a dance film that reflected the experience and feelings of our dancers during the pandemic.
We filmed it in January 2021 when restrictions allowed us to meet outside one on one. We met each of our dancers and filmed their dance contribution whilst adhering to social distancing rules.
Each dancer submitted audio voice recordings expressing their feelings. We incorporated this in with the edited dance footage to create the film.
